New Jersey faces a $7 billion clean water funding gap.
Governor Murphy has taken an important step by announcing that he intends to invest more in water infrastructure in next year’s proposed budget . Expanded investment in clean water will be transformative for New Jersey. When added to existing funding, an additional $700 million would mean a full investment of $1 billion from the American Rescue Plan that will create over 13,000 well-paying jobs and spur an additional $2.9 billion in economic benefit, while helping to maintain affordable water and sewer rates for New Jersey families.
With federal funding from the American Rescue Plan, we have a once in a generation opportunity to ensure clean water now and for future generations.
